School Closings

WSB Radio (750 AM or 95.5 FM) and WSB TV (Channel 2 – ABC) are the official severe weather notification stations for Dekalb County Schools. Especially during winter months when temperatures and/or weather conditions may pose travel threats for student and staff safety, stay tuned to these news outlets for updates on school closings or delays. DSA will also use the “This Week” email blast and “School Connects” phone systems for notifications.

Georgia Parent Survey

Now open to all parents of Georgia Public School Students, the survey mirrors the school climate questions in the Georgia Student Health Survey II and the Georgia School Personnel Survey. Data from these surveys will be used to calculate the School Climate Star Rating within the College and Career Ready Performance Index (CCRPI) for each school. Data from this survey will also be used to help the school inform and monitor instructional and programming decisions. Please visit this link by January 31, 2014. Thank you!

Go here, a drop-down menu will appear for you to select school district (Dekalb) and school (Dekalb School of the Arts).

White House: Lights. Camera. Education!

We’re looking for awesome student filmmakers to show the power of technology in classrooms in a short film. If you’re a student, we want you to make a short film — and have the chance to show it right here at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue for the first-ever White House Student Film Festival.
The topic? Technology in classrooms. There’s huge power in what technology can do for education — from taking a course online, to collaborating with students from across the country (or the world!).
