Legislative Action Committee Update

Superintendent search firm proposals were due to DCSD by November 12th. So far, the Board of Education has not disclosed the number of firms who submitted bids, the names of those firms, the process that will be used to vet those firms, and whether the public will be invited to view presentations from those firms. The Board has not appointed an independent committee to vet search firms, even though a list of willing business and education leaders has been submitted to the Board. Please continue to ask our Board for a transparent superintendent search process.

The annexation and cityhood movements continue to generate angst in our communities. Because Tucker and LaVista Hills were not able to agree on maps, a panel of five state legislators will determine the boundaries of those cities. Complicating the boundary issues are the annexation plans for Atlanta, Decatur, and Avondale Estates, which have not been finalized.
