Legislative Update

At Wednesday night’s Board of Education called meeting, the Board approved hiring PROACT, the only superintendent search firm that responded to the RFP. The Board did not choose to appoint a candidate selection committee. For a meeting recap, click here.

A panel of five state legislators is working to determine the boundary between the proposed cities of LaVista Hills and Tucker. The House Governmental Affairs Subcommittee set the boundaries for the proposed cities of La Vista Hills and Tucker. These boundaries are “set in stone” and will not be reconsidered during the legislative session. For more information, click here.

In an effort to address the issues between DeKalb County Schools and Together In Atlanta (the Atlanta annexation movement in Druid Hills), Superintendent Thurmond and representatives from Druid Hills will meet in January. The DeKalb Chamber of Commerce is organizing the meeting in hopes that it will slow the annexation movement and save millions of dollars in legal fees.
